On Wednesday 6th April 2022, Callum Powell Y6SW, received The High Sheriff's Special Award for his fundraising efforts to support Ifan Phillips.

After hearing the news last November, that one of his rugby heroes, Ospreys player, Ifan Phillips, had suffered a life changing motorcycle accident, Callum was devastated. He wanted to help Ifan get a state of the art prosthetic leg. He thought that the £20 that he had donated was not enough and told his Mum he wanted to donate more. He decided he was going to train to run 5K, and get family and friends to sponsor him. He set up his own Just Giving account and started training every night after school with his Mum.

Callum's main run was January 30th 2022. From this, he had many promises of donations. He also promised Ifan he would continue to do a 5K parkrun every week - he has run the Swansea Bay, the Gloucester, and the Gnoll parkruns. Callum wears his 'Ifan' t-shirt and tells people on the runs about his fundraiser. He has written messages to every RFC in Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland to tell them what has happened and asks if they would like to help him help Ifan. This has brought a lot of new donations.

The Just Giving page has raised £5210, in addition to this, with cheques from local rugby clubs and amounts of cash, the total will probably be well over £5,600.

Callum is driven by his love of rugby, the bravery shown to him by Ifan Phillips that he wants to do everything he can so that Ifan will be able to walk again.

The High Sheriff of West Glamorgan thanked Callum for all his efforts and said he richly deserved the High Sheriff's Special Award and was proud to have met him.
