School of Sanctuary Award
This year we applied for School of Sanctuary status. This means that the school is a place of refuge and sanctuary for people who have joined the community, especially Refugee and Asylum seeking families.
We are very pleased to announce that the school was successful in its application and we collected our award on Monday at Swansea Arena.
The School of Sanctuary committee attended the event and performed their rap, the music was written by Sami, and the words were written by the whole committee. The Year 5's performed one of their Primary Partners songs - This is Me! It was a great morning and it was a great privilege to have the opportunity to go and the children performed wonderfully on such a big stage.
Unfortunately we were not able to take any photos or record the songs at the event, but we have managed to record the rap back in school.

Next week, all the children will be celebrating Refugee Week, and have assemblies and activities planned for each class. We also have a whole host of activities planned for the Autumn term, including organising fund raising events, to help support the local community. Watch this space!!
School of Sanctuary Pledge
“We support the ‘City of Sanctuary’ vision that the UK will be a welcoming place of safety for all and proud to offer sanctuary to people fleeing violence and persecution.
We endorse the City of Sanctuary Charter, and agree to act in accordance with City of Sanctuary values and apply the network principles within our work (as far as our specific context enables us to).
We recognise the contribution of people seeking sanctuary. Sanctuary seekers are welcomed, included and supported within our school.
