This week School Council and Rights Ambassadors reviewed and edited their Playground Charters poster designs. They shared their work with Mrs Phillips who was very pleased with the designs and thanked pupils for their hard work and commitment.
We hope our Playground Charters will soon be printed and displayed in our playgrounds and around the school so that pupils and staff can make their 'Playground Pledge' and ensure our playtimes and lunchtimes continue to be happy and safe.

This afternoon, School Council provided an update to pupils in whole school assembly about their work so far this term.
Then, Councillors and Rights Ambassadors met to complete their Playground Charters.
After their meeting, they talked to Mrs Phillips about their ideas for the charters. Mrs Phillips was very impressed with their work.
In our next meeting we will be editing the design of our Playground Charters so they can be made into posters and displayed in the playgrounds and around our school.

School Council Rights and Respecting School Ambassadors continued planning their Playground Charter.
Pupils looked an examples of Playground Charters and then decided what to add to our school Playground Charter.
They shared their ideas and suggestions and discussed the most important points to include to ensure everyone plays safely and with kindness and respect.
School Council and Rights Ambassadors have started to create Playground Charters for the following age groups:
Nursery
Reception - Y2
Y3- Y6
We hope to completed our Playground Charters in our next School Council meeting.
The Charters will need to be designed and be made into posters which will be displayed in the playgrounds and around the school. Pupils and staff will then have the opportunity to make their playground pledge, encouraging everyone to be 'The Best they Can Be.'

Rights Respecting School Ambassadors joined our School Council meeting today to start the planning process for our Playground Charter.
Pupils worked in small groups to discuss and identify which children’s rights they needed to include in their Playground Charter. Councillors and Rights Ambassadors were all in agreement that the following two children's rights articles needed to be included:
Article 29 - Education must encourage a child's respect for Children's rights - Be the Best You Can Be!
And Article 31 - Every child has the right to relax and play, should be the two children's rights that should feature in our Playground Charter.
We will be continuing to work on our Playground Charter over the next few weeks.

This week School Council had the important job of reviewing and updating the Anti-bullying policy created by previous School Councillors. School Council will be sharing this policy with their peers over the next few weeks.
School Council's next mission is to work with Rights Respecting School Ambassadors to create a ‘Playground Charter’ to support pupils well-being during play times and lunch times.

School Council Meeting Attendance Presentation
In Friday's assembly School Council presented their work to help improve Attendance.
Councillors thanked pupils for their attendance poster designs and announced the winners of the attendance posters competition. The winning posters will be displayed around the school, shared on the school website and Dojo.

School Council completed the final part of their selection process of Y3-Y6 attendance posters.
Councillors chose a variety of designs to highlight the importance of attendance. The selected posters will be displayed around the school and shared on the school website and Dojo.
A big thank you to all our Y3-Y6 pupils who completed a poster design and congratulations to those pupils who designs have been chosen to support pupil attendance in our school.

In today’s meeting School Council were very happy to receive their School Council badges.
Councillors reviewed the attendance poster success criteria created by last year’s School Council and started to select the most appropriate designs from Y3-Y6 to be to be displayed around the school shared on the school website and Dojo.
The standard is very high, all pupils have worked hard to ensure that their designs included all the elements of the success criteria and that their posters were the best that they could be.

School Council had a brilliant first meeting!
We introduced ourselves and talked about the role of a School Councillor.
We discussed our vision as a council which is to ensure every child's voice is heard and their rights are upheld.
