Dear All,

 

As you may be aware, this week we conducted interviews for the Sketty School Head Teacher position which will take effect from September 2026. We were delighted with the candidates that we shortlisted and over Wednesday and Thursday of this week conducted a range of assessments to ensure that we selected the best candidate for this very important position. The interview process consisted of many elements such as a presentation on learning and teaching, a panel of pupils from our fabulous School Council, a representative staff panel, some written exercises and the candidates also delivered an assembly to our children in years 3, 4, 5 & 6 before a final interview with a panel of School Governors. 

 

Yesterday evening, the recruitment panel made a unanimous recommendation for Full Governing Body Ratification and the successful candidate has formally accepted the position of Head Teacher. 

 

I'm delighted to announce that we have approved the appointment of Mr Simon Lloyd-Jones to be our next Head teacher at Sketty. Mr Lloyd-Jones impressed us all throughout the entire process with his experience, his knowledge of our school and the sector but fundamentally what was evident throughout was how much Mr Lloyd-Jones cares about the school and importantly the pupils and the staff within it. We believe Sketty to be a very special school and we are confident that Mr Lloyd-Jones will continue to build on the incredible strengths that Mrs Phillips has delivered during her excellent service at Sketty.
