Sketty PTA
WHO IS WHO?
Danielle - Chairperson

Hi, I’m Dan! I have two sons in the school, in year 2 and 4 and I’m self-employed as an Audiologist. I joined the PTA a year ago as Secretary, and it’s been such a fun and rewarding experience. I’m really excited (and a little nervous!) to step into the role of Chair this year. I love being part of something that makes a real difference in our kids’ school and it’s such a joy to know we’re helping create happy memories with the events we put on.
Suzanne - Vice-Chairperson

I'm a proud Mum of two wonderful children who attend Sketty Primary School. I joined the PTA last year out of curiosity, wanting to help organise activities, events and fundraising which will benefit all of the children in the school. I'd often see the PTA contributing to things at school like equipment, disco's and fête's and thought why not get involved. My work background is Housing management and supporting women and children suffering domestic and sexual violence. I am grateful to be part of such a supportive and welcoming team who all aim to enhance the children's time at the school.
Carlie - Treasurer

I have 2 daughters at the school and I wanted to join the PTA to be involved in planning fun events that support their school life as a whole. I strongly believe that within the PTA we can compliment the school to offer each child a more holistic experience and encourage a nurturing environment.
Stacey - Vice-Treasurer

I’m Stacey. I have a daughter in year 6 so sadly will be leaving Sketty PTA at the end of the school year. I enjoy being part of the PTA and getting involved with planning and supporting the activities that are put on. This year I've taken on the role of Vice-Treasurer.
Steph – Communications & Social Media Officer

Hello! I’m Steph, proud mum of two daughters at the school. I help the PTA by looking after our communications and social media, sharing news about events and making sure everyone feels included. I also work in the charity sector supporting older people, and I run my own social media channels as an influencer. I enjoy being creative with my role and love the chance to meet new people through the PTA. I joined the PTA because I value the sense of community it brings and want to help make school life fun and memorable for every child.
Steve - Committee Member

I’m Steve, Dad to two boys, one of which is in year 4 at Sketty. I work in and run three different businesses that all have one main thing in common, solving problems and bringing people together and I aim to use those skills with the PTA and ensure the children have a fun, memorable, educational and worthy school career.
Katie - Committee Member

Hi I’m Katie! I’ve been part of the PTA since my daughter (now in Year 6) was in nursery. I joined to help make school a fun, memorable place for our children, raise funds for the extras that make learning even better, and to feel part of the lovely Sketty community. I’ve loved meeting other parents and getting stuck into organising events along the way!
Sarah - Committee Member

My name is Sarah and my daughter is in year 6. I love being a mum and think children are the future. I joined the PTA with hopes to help the children have an enriched learning experience. But also in hopes to help me settle into Swansea and get to know people after moving from England 2 years ago. The PTA has made me feel welcomed and has been rewarding so far and also fun. My previous experience was as the vice chair of the governing board of my daughter’s old school. The PTA is so much more fun so I will be sad to leave next September when my daughter leaves the school.

We held our AGM last night, elected our new committee and started planning some exciting things for this year.

We’ve got lots of fun-filled events in the pipeline, and we’re starting the year in a strong position thanks to everyone’s support last year. This means we can really focus on creating memorable experiences for the children and supporting the school. If you have any suggestions for how we could use PTA funds, we’d love to hear them.
I'd like to extend a huge thank you to all of our volunteers who helped at events last year – we really couldn’t have done it without you.
This year, our aim is to offer bite-size jobs which volunteers can sign up for on an ad-hoc basis. It’s perfect for those who want to help but don’t have the time to commit fully to the PTA. Believe it or not, last year’s Summer Fayre was pulled together by just three people (with one person doing most of the work!) – we’d love to spread the load more this year. Many hands really do make light work!
If you’d like to get involved or have any questions, please drop us an email at skettypta@gmail.com.
We’re looking forward to another brilliant year at Sketty Primary – and I’ll be ready for those emails pinging in offering help! 😉
With thanks,
Danielle, Sketty PTA Chair
