  • World Book Day

Fri 18 Feb 2022 Mr Crofts

    World Book Day 2022!

Due to clashes with residential trips and Welsh fortnight, we will be celebrating from Monday 14th March - Friday 18th March this year.

The whole school will be uniting around one book: Journey by Aaron Becker. Our literacy-based activities will be based on this for the whole week. Keep an eye out for pictures of our activities!

Our community window trail can be played all week. Can you find all the windows dotted around Sketty that are decorated with children's books? Can you collect all the letters and unscramble them to spell out an author's name? Prizes are up for grabs! £1 per family to play. Collect scavenger packs from school on Friday 11th March.

Friday 18th March: Dress Up for World Book Day! Children can come to school dressed up as their favourite children's book character.

Send your child in with a pre-loved book to take part in a book swap!

Don't forget your £1 book vouchers are valid from Thursday 17th Feb - Sunday 27th March at participating book shops!

  • Welsh Fortnight at Ysgol Sgeti!

Fri 18 Feb 2022 Miss Withey

    Shwmae bawb!

This year, we're going bigger than ever with Welsh Week; it's been upgraded to a fortnight of Welsh activities! This is a great chance for children to engage with the Welsh culture, learn about traditions and look at Wales as it is in 2022.

We have lots of exciting things going on in school including:

    - Welsh folk dancing with Julie Hobday,

    - Storytelling with Phil Stockton,

    - A pedal-powered Welsh music disco for Y3-6 with Ynni Da (a chance to enjoy Welsh language music, whilst also thinking about the environment),

    - Visits to local landmarks,

    - and much more!

Please encourage your child to take part at home too by entering our competitions and activities. Please see the attached file for details of whole school activities. Each year group will have an additional competition that will be posted on Class Story on Dojo.

We are re-introducing our Cerrig Cymraeg (Welsh stones) challenge too. It was brilliant to see how creative the children could be with just a stone and some paint! Keep a look out over half term as the first few stones appear!

We can't wait to see all the wonderful work that this fortnight will inspire.

    Pob lwc bawb!
