  • AUTISM-FRIENDLY RELAXED PERFORMANCE

    Mon 27 Nov 2023

    SUNDAY 10th MARCH at 3PM

The winner of Best New Musical at the Olivier and WhatsOnStage Awards – Back to the Future The Musical – Welcomed audiences to Hill Valley for our first-ever Relaxed Performance earlier this year. Following its success we’re thrilled to confirm our next Relaxed Performance and cannot wait for you to join us at the Adelphi Theatre.

When Marty McFly finds himself transported back to 1955 in a time machine built by the eccentric scientist Doc Brown, he accidentally changes the course of history.

Now he’s in a race against time to fix the present, escape the past and send himself… back to the future.

      WHAT IS A RELAXED PERFORMANCE?
Relaxed Performances are specially adapted to be accessible to a wide range of audiences such as those on the autism spectrum, those with a learning disability, or anyone with additional sensory needs.

    Changes will include:

Significant adjustments to sounds and lighting, however there will still be parts of the show that generate 1.21 gigawatts of spectacle. Some of which will be loud and bright, and may still be challenging.
House lights will be kept on (but low) during the performance
Building adjustments and chill out zones around the theatre
Trained and friendly staff, cast and theatre teams
      Relaxed theatre rules
An invitation to come and be as you need to be, and enjoy the show

A huge thank you from myself and the Eco Committee. Because of your support we collected a whopping 554kg of unwanted clothes and accessories. All of this will go to help the people of Ukraine. By re-using clothes items we are helping our environment too. We also managed to raise £277 for the school.

Thank you again for your support and if you missed this collection we plan another for the Spring Term.

Camhs Parental workshop - Monday 4th December

We are excited to once again be working with Camhs In Reach service this year, to deliver training and workshop to parents, staff and children.

Our next workshop is Monday 4th December at 3.30pm (venue to be confirmed). This session, we will be focusing on Emotional Regulation. We would love to see as many parents there as possible.

The session should last an hour and we can offer childcare to enable as many parents to come as possible. If you would like to take up this opportunity, please can you let Mrs Miller know the number of childcare places required by Friday 1st December, so she can arrange staffing (by phoning the school or by emailing Mrs Miller on millerj67@hwbcymru.net).

Many thanks and we look forward to seeing you on the 4th December.

    Rags2Riches4Schools.

Can I just say a huge thank you on behalf of the Eco Committee. Your bags of clothes have been coming in thick and fast this week and we really do appreciate your support.

The bags are being collected on Monday so if you haven't brought them in yet, or still have more to sort, you still have time. You can drop bags off later today, tomorrow and then lastly on Monday morning. There are more spare bags in school or use recycling bags of your own.

    Thanks again!
