  • Sketty School Battery Collection

Sun 12 Nov 2023 Kirsty Palmer

    Sketty School Battery Collection.

    We want your used batteries!

Did you know each year in the UK we throw away around 600 million batteries? Laid end to end these batteries would reach from the UK to Australia and back again.

Thousands of tonnes of CO2 emissions can be avoided if we increase battery recycling.

The Eco Committee have launched a monthly competition to encourage this.

Please send in any used batteries with your child. Each classroom has a recycling box. At the end of each month, the Eco team will collect and count the batteries. The class that collects the most will receive a certificate and keep our ‘Eco Dewi Dragon’ with them for the month.

Please support a great scheme that can help protect our environment.

You still have another week to sort out your unwanted clothes for our Ukraine collection. If you need more bags please ask your child's class teacher.

Any filled bags can now be brought into school. You can leave your bags in the large container at the school barrier which will be open at the start and end of each school day for the next week.

The Eco Committee are very keen to beat their existing record and earn more money for the school as well as help those in need and our environment.

    Thank you for your support.

  • 'A Better Welcome to Swansea’ coffee morning

Fri 10 Nov 2023 Julie Miller

Are you new to Swansea? Would you like the opportunity to learn about the city and the community that the school is within?
Would you like the chance to meet other parents, who also may be new to the area, or the country and are in a similar situation. Are you looking to develop friendships and community links?
Then join us on December 5th at 9am, for a coffee morning with a guest speaker Hannah Sabatia, from the A Better Welcome to Swansea project.
The ‘ A Better Welcome to Swansea’ Project helps to welcome and support people seeking asylum and refuge in Swansea to reduce isolation, encourage active participation, promote well-being and enhance integration.
Meet with other parents, ask questions and get advice on important topics, over a coffee and a biscuit. We look forward to seeing you then!
