Swansea Parent Carer Forum Need you
Thu 19 Oct 2023Swansea Parent Carer Forum
We Need You to Review Services that Support Children and Young People with Additional Needs. We know good services are always the result of collaboration between the people who use them and the people who provide and deliver them. The local authority have asked us, parent carers, to be a key part of reviewing the existing services that support our children and young people. We have two opportunities to come together with local authority officers and current service providers. You are more than welcome to attend both events if you wish. SPCF will be supporting both sessions.

TikTok
Tue 10 Oct 2023Dear parents/ carers,
We have had some messages from parents regarding 'TikTok'. TikTok is a video-sharing platform where you can watch and create videos, and livestream. The app has an age-rating of 13+.
Below are some tips from the NSPCC to keep your children safe if using the app.
There are six security settings that can help you to keep TikTok safe for your child and prevent them seeing anything that might worry or upset them:
- Family Pairing
This allows you to connect your child’s account with your own. It gives you access to parental controls to help manage who they can speak to and how long they can spend on the app.
- Private account
Setting your child’s account to private means that only approved followers will be able to watch their videos.
- Restricted mode
This feature helps to filter out videos that may contain inappropriate or adult topics and stop them appearing on your child’s 'For You Page'.
- Comment filters
Enable to manage who can comment on your child’s videos and stop inappropriate comments from appearing on their feed.
- Direct messages
This can help them manage who can contact them privately on the app. You can choose who can send them direct messages by selecting ‘Friends only’ or ‘No one’.
- Daily screen time
This setting allows you manage how long your child can spend on the app. You can set a daily time limit, and once it’s up you’ll need to enter a passcode to keep using the platform.

On Thursday 26th October - the children are welcome to wear Orange if they wish, and make a voluntary 50p donation tot he charity. All moneys raised will be donated to Action for Elders.
Please do not feel the need to buy anything new for this day. We will also be celebrating with activities in class.

Dojo Messages
Mon 09 Oct 2023Dear Parents/Carers,
IMPORTANT INFORMATION RE-DOJO
Why we use Dojo?
Dojo is the school method of contact with parents/carers with messages regarding the timetable of the day, messages regarding trips, school calendar information and messages pertinent to your child’s specific class e.g. Don’t forget your swimming kit. It’s Shw Mae day tomorrow. Remember Inset day on 27/10/23 etc. etc. It is meant to aid and support the running of the classes’ day-to-day activities, keeping everyone in the loop and well informed.
Worries and concerns
Dojo is not the platform for parents/carers to express concerns or worries. Any requests for meetings with class teachers or if you have any queries or concerns, please contact the school office and they will organise a suitable time for you to meet with the class teacher.
Urgent Information
Please remember to contact the school office to pass on any urgent information. Please do not use Dojo. Class teachers check their messages at the beginning (8.30am) and end of the day (3.30pm) and something important may be missed.
Open Door Policy
We run an “open door policy”. This means that we will endeavour to speak to parent/carers if you have any queries or concerns, as soon as we possibly can and frequently without the need of you making an appointment. Face to face meetings are always the most productive and we ask if you have any concerns to contact the school office and we will do all we can to help sort out any issues and provide relevant support if needed.
Thank you for your support with this matter.
Kind regards
Mrs Bev Phillips
