APRIL NEWSLETTER
Wed 30 Apr 2025Dear Parents/Carers,
Summer is well and truly upon us as we say goodbye to the month of April. The children have all returned to school so happy, enthusiastic and excited for the Summer Term and have already begun planning their learning for their new topics with their teachers. The warm weather has definitely helped and it has been lovely to see the children exploring the outdoors in the sunshine this week.
Before the holidays we celebrated Autism Awareness Day and learnt about the Easter story, welcoming Rev Layfetta Masih from All Saints Church. We are very grateful to have such wonderful links with the community.
A huge thank you to our PTA who organised the Rainbow Raffle and to everyone who donated towards it. 20 lucky winners were chosen by our Year 6 School Council and hampers delivered to them before the end of term. An amazing amount of money was raised which will help to benefit the children across the school. Diolch pawb!!
Onwards to the final term of this academic year and I guarantee you it is going to be busy with trips, Sports Days and performances planned.
Reminder that school is closed for pupils on Friday 2nd May (INSET) and Monday 5th May (Bank Holiday).
Kind Regards
Mr Simon Lloyd-Jones

Eco Reminders
Thu 24 Apr 2025Eco News:
I hope you are all enjoying the Easter break. I just wanted to take the opportunity to remind you of a few things.Batteries: Please continue to send in your used batteries to your child's class teacher. We have collected an impressive amount so far- that won't be going into landfill and the children (and teachers) are always very excited to see who will win the monthly count.
Rags2Riches: I hope some of you have had a chance to start a bit of Spring cleaning and sort some unwanted clothes for us. Unlike last term, we WILL NOT be sending home collection bags. Please use any refuse bags you have at home- please make sure these are tied up securely as it makes it easier when weighing and loading the bags. Please keep your bags at home until Tuesday 6th May. The collection crate at the school barrier will then be unlocked for the remainder of that week for you to put the bags in. They will be collected on the morning of the 9th.
Eco Code Competition: Information about the Eco Code competition was sent out before the holidays, with some of the Criw members launching it in a whole school assembly. Please see previous post on here or our dojo, for competition details and remember to have a look on the internet if your child would like some further ideas. We are hoping that as many children will enter as possible and the Eco Criw are looking forward to judging the entries later next month.

Eco-code Competition
Thu 10 Apr 2025Eco-Code Competition
It is a requirement of the Eco Schools award that we have an Eco-code. The Eco-code is our mission statement. It should demonstrate- in a positive, clear and imaginative way- our school’s commitment to improving our environmental performance.
The whole school has a key role in developing the code and that is why the Eco committee are launching a competition to create one. The Eco-Code may take the form of simple phrases, a poem or a song/rap. They can be recorded, created on the computer or hand drawn. The children of Sketty are proud to be part of a Platinum Eco School and of all the things they do to raise awareness of environmental issues here and around the world. Our Eco-Code should highlight this.
Here are some example Eco-codes from other Eco-Schools. (Look on line for more inspiration).
Closing date for entries is Friday 16th May and the winner will be announced shortly after. The winning entry will be displayed in the school and will be part of our ongoing commitment to a greener school and world. Children can email their entries to Mrs Palmer or hand them to their class teacher. (Make sure their names are included with their entries)
Thank you for your support.
Mrs Palmer and the Eco Criw.
