    Dear Parents/Carers

    We have a really exciting opportunity in the new year for pupils inYear 4, 5 and 6 to learn a brass or string instrument. Please lookout for further information before the end of term.

    From January

    Year 2, 3 and 4 will be having ukulele lessons with Mr Goodwin.

    Year 5 and 6 will be having recorder/percussion lessons

    Exciting times ahead for us as a school!!

  • DVLA Coding event

    We had a fantastic day yesterday at the DVLA coding event in Llansamlet, We watched some brilliant examples of coding games with very important messages and got to enjoy the activities outside from the police, army and some science games. We even came away with some coding goodies.

    Christmas Jumper Day is on Thursday 8th December. To take part,the children can simply wear a festivejumper or festive clothing toschool.

    We will be collecting for Save the Children. If you wish to make adonation, please send £1 per family, ifpossible, in to school on theday.

    Sorry for the delay in posting- just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone that donated their unwanted clothes to the Rags 2 Riches scheme.

    As well as being for a great cause- the clothes being sent to Ukraine, we managed to raise £ 187 for the school.

    We plan to do another collection in the new year so watch this space.

    Rights Respecting School Ambassadors attend Swansea Council World Children’s Day Event – You said…We did.

     

    Article 3 - The best interests of the child must be a top priority in all things that affect children.

    Article 12 - Every child has the right to a say in all matters affecting them, and to have their views taken seriously.

    Article 13 - Every child must be free to say what they think and to seek and receive all kinds of information, as long as it is within the law.

     

    Yesterday, four members of our Rights Respecting School Ambassadors attended Swansea Council World Children’s Day Event – You said…We did, at the Waterfront Museum, Swansea, with Swansea Schools.

     

    At the event, Helen Morgan Rees, Director of Education; Rhodri Jones, Head of Achievement and Partnership Service and Cllr Hayley Gwilliam, Cabinet Member for Community Support, spoke to pupils about issues and concerns affecting them from the 'You Said' meetings last year and provided feedback about the work that Swansea Council is doing on the key themes:

     

    Safety and feeling safe in our community.

    Improved sports equality and facilities.

    Mental Health.

    Climate change and environmental awareness.

    Black, Asian, Minority, Ethic –Equality.

    LGBTQ+

    Visible and invisible disability.

    Substance Abuse and Vaping.

     

    Other speakers at the event included:

    Jack Moyse, an Ex Swansea School Pupil, who talked about visible and invisible disability and shared his journey.

    Jayne Richmond, Climate Change Strategy Manager who spoke about Climate Change and Environmental Awareness.

    Julie Davies, Head of Child and Family services, who made closing remarks.

     

    After the speeches, we visited the Interactive Market Place, where we were able to take part in a variety of activities and discuss children’s rights further.

    Article 24 - The right to the best possible health.

     

    Three members of our Rights Respecting School Super Ambassadors attended UNICEF's World Children's Day meeting as part of their Outright campaign about Health.

     

    The meeting was very interesting, UNICEF talked to us about health care around the world and how important it is for children to receive their right to the best possible health.

     

    Following this meeting Rights Respecting School Ambassadors are going to find out how we support and care for children's health in our school and in the community, to ensure that every child has the right to the best possible health.
