Ruby Robin Award
Sun 03 Dec 2023Ruby Robin Award.
A free winter challenge for children age 5-11 to help songbirds
We are lucky to have an amazing range of songbirds in the UK. More than 100 types! However, their numbers are going down rapidly as the world around them changes. We need to protect them and make sure they are still here in the future. We want more children to learn about the birds they see and encourage young people to take positive action for nature.
To inspire children to connect with nature, Songbird Survival have launched a FREE Robin Award. This Winter, Children aged 5 to 11 can take part in fun challenges to gain a special certificate and Ruby Robin badge. Challenges include crafting DIY feeders for your gardens, learning fun facts about birds and spending time outdoors spotting birds.
Can you help inspire the next generation by getting your children involved in the Ruby Robin Challenge this December?
It’s so simple and fun to earn the reward:
- Parents sign up here: https://www.songbird-survival.org.uk/what-we-do/campaigns/rra/sign-up
- Choose your challenges- simply choose and complete one activity from each of the four challenges. There are lots of resources to help on the website. www.songbird-survival.org.uk
- Get going and have fun.
- Claim your award.
It would be great if Sketty children got involved between now and the end of the year.
If you are happy to, please send any photos of your child completing a challenge or receiving their award. They will only be used as evidence for our Eco Award. Send to: PalmerK1@hwbcymru.net or your child’s class teacher.
Many thanks
The ECO Committee

A huge thank you from myself and the Eco Committee. Because of your support we collected a whopping 554kg of unwanted clothes and accessories. All of this will go to help the people of Ukraine. By re-using clothes items we are helping our environment too. We also managed to raise £277 for the school.
Thank you again for your support and if you missed this collection we plan another for the Spring Term.
